Brand to know
We're putting a spotlight on our coveted up-and-coming brands. This week: Fanfare
Fanfare
British fashion brand Fanfare launched in 2018 and was a finalist at the Drapers Sustainable Fashion Awards in 2020. This year, it was also one of the winners of the German Sustainability Awards. Founded by Esther Knight and Leslie Dwight, the brand makes clothes out of sustainable and ethically sourced fabrics. The latest collection includes classic suits, jackets and tops in beautiful natural colours and soft linen. Made by local artisans, many of the designs are embellished or enhanced using fabric offcuts or material that would have otherwise gone to landfill. We met with Esther to discuss three of her top picks.
“This top was made using a blend of offcuts and 100% GOT-certified organic cotton which guarantees that the cotton has been grown in a pesticide-free environment. This also means reduced water consumption by farmers who work safely and are paid a fair living wage. It makes you feel better knowing that you’re wearing a garment that was produced ethically.”
High waisted floral petal jeans
“These are part of our recycled collection. Because we take products that would have been deemed wastage and repair and repurpose them, each pair will be different. This makes them really special and unique to each individual. Here, floral petals add something different and intricate to a normal pair of jeans.”
“This co-ord suit is made from 100% sustainable linen which makes it nice and light, perfect for the upcoming warmer months. I like this one because you can easily dress it up or wear it more casually, which makes it a really versatile, timeless piece.”
