JPL Atelier

JPL Atelier is known for making elegant staple pieces using recycled and ethically sourced materials. The PETA-approved brand was founded by Colombian designer Juliana Ponce de León. The staff in its London-based factory are all women, and they focus on creating long-lasting garments from the most luxurious satin silks. Juliana gives us the lowdown on three of her favourite pieces.

The Ida Top

“I love the timeless elegance of this piece, from the silhouette to the opulent black velvet fabric. It’s made entirely in London, lined with bamboo silk and finished with French seams. Because it’s so versatile, you can wear it to a black tie event paired with a beautiful black silk maxi skirt or with denim trousers to Sunday brunch.”

The White Rose Dress

“What I love about this piece is the relaxed silhouette and fabric. The organic cotton has technology that repels moisture and liquids, which in turn helps with keeping the garment effortlessly clean. Just like all of our other pieces, the White Rose Dress is made in London and finished with French seams. When I was designing this dress, I pictured the JPL woman wearing this on holiday to dinner with a fresh glow, slicked back low bun, beautiful gold jewellery and vegan leather sandals.”

The Amanda Culottes

“I love how modern and comfortable the Amanda Culottes are. They’re made from vegan leather dead stock fabric which was locally sourced. I would style the culottes with our black bamboo silk camisole, an oversized blazer and heeled boots. This look can be worn straight from a day at the office to cocktails [in the evening].”
