Yasmina Q

Yasmina Q is all about thoughtfully created womenswear that caters to all. The most recent collection features cosy knits, wide-leg trousers and beautiful work-from-home dresses that embody the brand’s simple yet elegant aesthetic. Each knitwear piece is made from high quality Italian yarn, and the dresses are designed using sustainably sourced materials, including deadstock, produced in collaboration with small communities of dressmakers. They are based in the UK, Indonesia and Hong Kong. We met with Saudi Arabian founder and designer Yasmina Qanzal to discuss three of her top picks.

The Chloe dress

“This was one of the first pieces I designed, and it’s made using deadstock fabric. When this dress was produced, the manufacturer – based in Hong Kong – worked alongside a women’s charity, which was so special. We were able to support this, ensuring equal pay and providing education via skilled training. This dress (which comes in different colours and prints) is so easy to wear as it’s cut on the bias, and I love the drape of the asymmetric hemline. You can wear it in a relaxed manner or for something more special.”

The Fleur dress

“This dress was developed and produced by Loop Studio in London, and the Italian mill we source our yarn from is committed to operating sustainably. We are donating 5% of profits from each sale of the Fleur dress to The Forest Stewardship Council to support the responsible management and protection of the world’s forests. Many of our woven styles have this style of sleeve – it’s fast becoming iconic to our brand. This dress is so easy to wear and the shape can be worn from day to night. I’d style it with flat sandals for summer nights, or dress it up with a heel and statement jewellery for something special.”

Gigi sweater and Lourdes pant set

“I designed this loungewear capsule [piece] in response to more time spent at home during the pandemic. I wanted something that was polished but also super easy to wear. Along with the Fleur dress, this [set] was developed and produced by Loop Studio. I’d recommend wearing it with a pair of trainers.”
